Morning Brief – 6:30 AM
The day starts early in the HVAC world, especially during the winter months here in Alabama. After grabbing my morning coffee, I head to our heating service dispatch center in Tuscaloosa. The morning brief includes reviewing emergency calls that came in overnight and organizing the day’s schedule.
First Call – 8:00 AM
Our first stop is in Northport, where a family woke up to a cold house. These emergency calls are our priority, especially when temperatures drop below freezing. After a thorough inspection, I identify a failing igniter in their furnace – a common issue that we can fortunately fix on the spot.
Mid-Morning – 10:30 AM
Heading to Brookwood for a scheduled furnace maintenance check. Preventative maintenance is crucial, and I always tell my customers it’s better to catch issues early than face emergency repairs later.
Maintenance Tips I Share with Every Customer:
- Regular filter changes every 1-3 months
- Keep vents and returns clear of furniture
- Schedule bi-annual maintenance checks
- Listen for unusual sounds
Afternoon – 2:00 PM
After lunch, I’m in Cottondale performing a furnace replacement consultation. The homeowner’s unit is over 20 years old, and we discuss energy-efficient options that could save them money in the long run.
Late Afternoon – 4:30 PM
The day wraps up with a heating service call in Coaling. It’s rewarding to know that each day, we’re helping our neighbors stay comfortable in their homes, especially during those chilly Alabama winters.
End of Day – 6:00 PM
Back at the shop, I complete paperwork, restock my truck for tomorrow, and touch base with dispatch about any overnight emergency calls. Another satisfying day of serving our community comes to an end.
