My alarm goes off, and I’m up before the sun. As a technician at Hartwick Heating & AC, I know that maintaining comfort for our customers means early starts. I gulp down some coffee and head out the door, ready to face whatever the day brings.
First Call: 7:30 AM
I arrive at our first job of the day – an A/C installation for a new homeowner. The summer heat is already building, so I’m glad we’re getting an early start. My partner and I begin the process of:
- Removing the old unit
- Preparing the area for the new system
- Installing the outdoor condenser
- Setting up the indoor air handler
Lunch Break: 12:00 PM
With the installation well underway, we take a quick break for lunch. I use this time to check my schedule for the afternoon and respond to any urgent messages from dispatch.
Afternoon Service Call: 1:30 PM
After finishing up the installation, I head to a service call. A customer’s air conditioner isn’t cooling properly, and it’s my job to diagnose the problem. After a thorough inspection, I discover a refrigerant leak. I explain the situation to the homeowner and get to work on the repair.
Emergency Repair: 4:45 PM
Just as I’m wrapping up, I get a call about an emergency repair. An elderly couple’s A/C has completely stopped working on one of the hottest days of the year. I head over immediately, knowing how crucial it is to get their system back up and running.
Wrapping Up: 7:00 PM
With the emergency taken care of, I finish my paperwork and head back to the office. It’s been a long day, but knowing I’ve helped keep people comfortable makes it all worthwhile.
Reflection: 8:30 PM
As I relax at home, I think about the day’s challenges and successes. Working for Hartwick Heating & AC isn’t just a job – it’s about making a real difference in people’s lives, one cool breeze at a time.
